At Lakeside, we wish to equip children with the tools to aspire to become great artists. Through Art lessons at Lakeside, we fulfil the requirements of the National Curriculum for Art & Design by providing a broad and balanced curriculum. We believe that art has the significant power to allow children to explore and express their individuality and creativity. 

Our intent is to ensure that our curriculum inspires our children to think creatively and gain an appreciation of art. Our Art and Design curriculum is aimed at providing our children with opportunities to develop their skills using a range of media and materials. Children learn the skills of drawing, painting, printing, collage, textiles, 3D work and digital art. They are given the opportunity to explore and evaluate different creative ideas. 

Through learning about the roles and purposes of art, the children will explore the impact art has had on contemporary life and that of different times and cultures. The curriculum is designed so that skills from the National Curriculum are progressive and built upon as children move through school.
